What trades in plastics & polymers

Polymer buying is grade buying. The same polymer family covers film, injection, blow moulding, raffia and pipe applications, each with its own melt flow and properties.

TP4 helps converters and distributors specify the grade and application, then connects supply, packing and container logistics.

Standards and parameters that decide the deal

Name these clearly and suppliers can quote like for like. Leave them out and every quote means something different.

How a plastics & polymers trade moves with TP4

  1. 01Grade & application

Polymer, reference grade and process (film, injection, pipe) defined.

  2. 02Prime, off-grade or recycled

Material class agreed, because price and use differ.

  3. 03Supplier match

Producers and distributors matched on grade and availability.

  4. 04Price validity

Short validity quotes fixed quickly as feedstock moves.

  5. 05Container loading

Bags on pallets loaded to maximise weight per container.

Quality checks, packing and shipping

Plastics & Polymers: questions buyers ask

Do I need to name an exact producer grade?

It helps but is not essential. Share the application and key properties, and TP4 can identify equivalent grades.

What is the difference between prime, off-grade and recycled?

Prime meets the producer’s full specification; off-grade falls outside it; recycled comes from reprocessed material. Each suits different uses and prices.

Why are polymer quotes valid for so short a time?

Polymer prices follow feedstock and regional supply, which can move weekly.

How much fits in a container?

It depends on bag type and density. Many polymer grades load around 20 to 25 tonnes per 40-foot container.
